There are many options for creating an online store but Shopify is by far one of the most popular ones you’ll find today.

Shopify will let you create an online ecommerce store whether you just want to start a side hustle, create an online presence for an existing store or build a million dollar business selling your products.

The store solution has some of the best tools for managing and automating an ecommerce business including:

  • customizing your store
  • marketing your products
  • providing useful analytics
  • creating discounts and promos for customers
  • handling payments
  • managing orders and inventory
  • setting up external sales channels
  • education on how to use Shopify

Shopify offers a 3-day free trial so that you can get started setting up your store with no up-front expense. After the 3-day free trial, you will get an entire month for $1 which means you’re getting 33 days for only $1.

This is a better deal than their previous 14-day free trial in my opinion because now you have a much longer time to work on getting your store up.

I’ll show you in this guide how to get set up with Shopify’s 3-day free trial as well as what’s available to you when you get started.

How To Start Your Shopify 3-Day Trial

Ready to get started with Shopify?

If you’re set on starting an online store to sell your products, then here’s how to begin your 3-day free trial with one of the best ecommerce solutions on the internet.

I’ll walk you through getting your trial account created. You wouldn’t need your credit card to start your 3-day free trial but you’ll need it to continue the $1/month part of the trial.

1. Answer some onboarding questions

On the Shopify website, the first thing you need to do is answer a few onboarding questions so that they can get to know your business needs.

Shopify just starting quiz

The first thing they want to know is if you’re just getting started or if you’re already experienced with selling online or in person.

You can skip this question or just skip all if you like. Or select one of the options and then click “Next” to move on to the next question.

Shopify sell where question.

Shopify has several solutions for selling online and want to get you set up with these options once you get started. They ask you where you would like to sell and you can choose as many options as you want.

Shopify sell what

What do you plan to sell first?

You have a number of options here based on what Shopify allows you to do. You can choose to decide later or you can just skip the question.

2. Where is your business located?

Shopify store location

Next, Shopify wants to know where your business is located so that they could set your default shipping rates, recommend useful apps, and more.

Your current country or region is automatically selected based on your actual location but you can change this if you like.

3. Create your Shopify account

In this step, you will choose a method to sign up for a Shopify account. This is the method in which you will log into the site.

Shopify create account with email, appleid, facebook or google

You can use authentication with your Apple Id, sign up with Facebook or your Google account. Or you can just sign up with an email address and a password.

4. Finish setup inside your dashboard

Your free trial has just started and you’re inside your dashboard. You’ll instantly see some action steps you can take to finish setting up your Shopify store.

Here you can add your first product, name your store, customize your store’s look and add a custom domain.

Of course, you don’t have to do all of these at once. You have 3 free days and then you have 30 days once you pay $1. After that you’ll be charged the price of the plan you choose to continue your Shopify subscription with.

Choosing A Shopify Plan

After your 3-day free trial, you’ll have the option to extend your trial by paying $1. Then you will have an additional 30 days to continue working on your store.

When you decide to extend your trial for $1, you’ll be asked to choose a Shopify plan. This is so that you’ll have access to those plan features as you try Shopify and so that you’ll be billed after your trial expires.

Shopify store plans

To extend your free trial, just click the “select a plan” button at the top of your dashboard where you see the message to extend for $1.

You’ll be shown the Shopify plans and what they cost.

Your options at the regular pricing are:

  • Basic – $19/month
  • Shopify – $49/month
  • Advanced – $299/month

Each plan has features tailored to various business needs with the more expensive plans offering more. I’d recommend starting with the Basic plan during the trial phase and then upgrade whenever you see fit.
