ABCmouse is a fun and personalized learning platform for children from the age of two to eight years old.
They offer a full curriculum of learning activities which can help children to develop in areas of critical reading and math skills.
Members can download the ABCmouse app on all iPhones, iPads, Kindle Fire and most Android phones or access the lessons through a web browser.
To get started with ABCmouse, they let you try the program for free for 30 days, then subscribe for $12.99/month until you cancel.
You can save a lot of money on your membership by paying annually but they’ll charge you immediately even though you’ll still get a free month.
On this page, I’ll show you how to get stated with an ABCmouse free trial, how to cancel so you don’t get charged and how your child can benefit from keeping your membership.
How To Start Your 30-Day ABCmouse Free Trial
To get started with your ABCmouse free trial, you’ll need a credit card or a PayPal account as they accept both.
The sign up is easy but you’ll have to go through a couple of offers and upsells as they try to get you to pay something right off the bat.
However, just decline the offers and you wouldn’t be charged until your 30 day free trial expires.
To start your free trial, just click on the free trial button and then follow the steps below.
1. Watch the video then enter your email address
You’ll first be presented with a short video about two minutes long that explains what you’re about to sign up for.
You don’t even really need to watch the video. Just click it off and enter your email address if you’re in a hurry.
2. Enter signup information and billing
The account creation form and the billing form is on one page with lots of info on what you’re getting.
You’ll see how much you’re going to pay after the trial, where to easily cancel your account and more.
The billing section lets you choose between credit cards or PayPal for recurring payment of $12.99/month.
3. You’re signed up but there’s an offer
You’re signed up at this point and should be able to continue but ABCmouse has an offer for you.
You can save some money off the monthly price by changing your subscription to an annual one. They’ll charge you now but you’ll still get a free month since 13 months will go by before you’re charged again.
If you plan on keeping the program after the trial, then this is a great offer as you’ll save almost $100 by paying annually instead of monthly.
Decline the offer by clicking in the “No thanks” box and you’ll be presented with another offer this time for a 6 month plan.
4. Do you want assessment free trial
One more offer before you’re ready to go. This time it’s for assessment. If you’d like to measure your child’s progress as you go along, you can pay $3.95/month to add the Assessment Center.
This comes in the form of a 30 day free trial as well and you’ll be charged $3.95/month along with the $12.99/month when both trials expire.
You can skip this offer by clicking in the “No, thanks” box. There is no harm in taking it though as you can cancel both trials on the same page.
From there, you’ll go through the ABCmouse onboarding process to help you set up your account and get the most out of your experience.
4. ABCmouse onboarding
You’ll be given a short survey where they ask questions like “how did you hear about us” and so on. This is the first of a 4-step process.
The second step is to set up your Parent profile. Then you’ll create your child’s profile in the third step, adding their name, age and selecting their academic level.
In the final step, you’ll watch an important “getting started” video. When you’ve completed all 4 steps, you can start using ABCmouse with your child.
There are apps for iOS, Android and Kindle Fire mobile devices that you’ll be able to download to get started.
How To Cancel ABCmouse Free Trial
Free trials don’t mean you’ll always want to keep the product or service.
ABCmouse lets you cancel during the free trial period by going into your settings and managing your subscription from there.
Here, I’ll show you not just how to cancel ABCmouse free trial but also the Assessment Center free trial if you purchased it during signup. You can manage both subscriptions on the same page in the Parent section of your settings.
1. Go to the Parent section of your settings
Your child cannot access this section without your password. Click on settings as shown above from the home screen.
Then click on Parent Section when the menu comes up.
You’ll need to enter your password to get to this section.
2. Click on “My Account” to manage subscription
The section where you need to manage your subscription is under “My Account” in the Parent section. Click on this to start cancelling.
3. Go to “Cancellation”
In the “My Account” section, there are four blocks where you an adjust different settings for your account. The last block is for cancellations and you can manage both your ABCmouse and your Assessment subscriptions here.
4. Choose the free trial to cancel
ABCmouse will ask you which subscription you would like to cancel. Just click one of the boxes to cancel that subscription or click both.
A button will appear for you to continue the cancellation process.
5. End your membership
At this point, ABCmouse doesn’t want you to end your membership so they’ll show you the benefits of keeping your membership and what you’ll be missing out on for your child.
You will also not be eligible for their special offer if you decide to take it.
6. Skip the best offer (or not).
ABCmouse (and most companies that offer a free trial) would rather you stay than to lose you as a customer.
This is why they’re offering you their best offer while you’re trying to cancel.
Here they’re giving you an ABCmouse annual membership for just $29.99/year which is a lot of savings than if you paid monthly. You’re now paying about $2.50/month instead of $12.99/month if you take this offer.
You will be billed immediately though but they’ll let you enjoy the remainder of your free month.
To continue cancelling so you don’t get charged, just ignore this deal and click “End Membership” to keep on cancelling.
7. End your membership
Finally, you’ll be given the options to pause your membership instead of cancelling which is a convenient option to have, keep your membership or continue to end your membership.
If you do not want to be charged then you’ll need to click on “End Membership” to complete the cancellation process.
You’ll get this confirmation screen to show that your subscriptions were cancelled. You’ll still be able to enjoy your free trials up until they expire. Your credit card will not be charged.
You’ll see further confirmation that your account was cancelled when you return to the “My Account” page of the Parent section.
ABCmouse Pricing After Trial
When you sign up for the ABCmouse free trial, you’re presented with a number of offers, most of them for a yearly membership.
You’re still given one free month no matter which offer you take so it’s just a matter of choice when it comes to how much you want to pay for ABCmouse from the available offers.
The regular pricing if you don’t take any of these offers is $12.99/month which is billed when your 30 day free trial expires. ABCmouse will post your billing date in your account under the Parent section so you’ll always know when your trial is up.
There are also a number of deals you can get just by being on the ABCmouse contact list. I recently saw a limited time offer for 2 free months advertised on Facebook. You may also be able to get seasonal deals for events like Black Friday, back-to-school and New Years for instance.
And if you read through this entire article, there is a very good offer to get ABCmouse for as low as $2.50/month for performing a certain action.
$12.99/month is still a great price for all the benefits ABCmouse offers to the developing minds of your young one.
