June 2024 update: Noggin appears to be shutting down and is no longer available to new subscribers. The channel has already been removed from Amazon Prime Video and the official website is only available to active subscribers or a limited time. Many of the shows from Noggin are available on Paramount+.
Noggin’ is an educational app by TV streaming company Nick Jr. aimed at kids ages 2-7. The “kids-safe” app is ad-free and available for iOS, Android, Roku and Amazon devices.
It is also available as a streaming channel on Amazon Prime Video channels, The Roku Channel, and other similar platforms.
Through the use of popular and beloved characters, Noggin features pre-school learning games, full episodes of popular children’s TV shows, books and activities. Many of the shows are original productions aimed at teaching early reading, early math, social & emotional skills, and wellness.
The app features well over 1000 educational games and activities to make your kids’ screen-time smarter, yet fun and enjoyable.
Noggin offers a full 30-day free trial for you to try the app, even on Prime Video Channels where the normal free trial duration is 7 days. You’ll pay monthly fee of $7.99 after the trial ends.
Below, we’ll explore some of the ways you can get a Noggin free trial and see what they have to offer.
How To Get a Noggin Free Trial
There are a number of ways to get a Noggin free trial for your kids to enjoy. You can even try all the different ways and get even more free trial time.
Since Noggin is available as an app, you’ll want to download the one for your kid’s device and start the trial there. For this post, I’m going to be using the desktop websites as I’m writing this on my laptop.
Here are some ways to get a 30-day free trial of Noggin.
- Directly from Noggin.com – Noggin.com is the official website where you can redeem a 30-day free trial, sign up and stream all the educational content available.
- Amazon Prime Video Channels – If you’re a Prime member, you might want to subscribe to the Noggin channel on Prime Video to stream all the educational content and television shows from Noggin.
- The Roku Channel – On your Roku device, you can download the Noggin app but you can also go to The Roku Channel app and subscribe to the Noggin premium channel and get your 30-day free trial. The Roku Channel is also available in your browser.
- Device apps – Noggin is available for iOS, Android, Roku and Amazon devices so you can download the relevant app for your kids’ tablet and start a free trial that way.
Here’s a walk-through on starting your free trial on some of these platforms.
Starting a Noggin Free Trial on Noggin.com
One of the best place to start your free trial besides the app, is directly through the official Noggin website at Noggin.com.
There are several advantages to going directly through the website.
- You can use your login credentials with the app or on the desktop site.
- You only have one subscription to worry about.
- One additional device to watch on, if you have multiple kids.
To start your 30-day free trial, just browse the website and click on the “Start your free trial” button in the header or anywhere on the website. Then follow the next steps to set up your kid’s account.
1. Create your Noggin account
The signup page contains some info you may need to know about before you sign up.
- How long is the Noggin free trial? – 30 days
- How much is Noggin after the free trial? – $7.99/month
- Are there any discounts or promotions? – Save 50% when you choose annual billing.
To create your account, you’ll need to fill the form with your first name, your email address and choose a strong password.
There’s a pre-checked box that gives Noggin permission to send you marketing emails, updates and more. The choice is yours whether you want to leave this checked or uncheck it.
When you click the “Agree and Continue” button, you’re acknowledging that you read and agreed to the Noggin Terms of Service and Paramount’s Privacy Policy.
2. Create your child’s profile
Once you’re done creating your account, you’ll be logged in and can go to your parent dashboard.
However, there are some important steps you can complete now instead of later through the settings.
The first one is to set up your child’s profile. Here you will add the child’s name and birthday, and also pick an avatar. If you need to create more profiles, you’ll be able to do so in the settings.
Save the info to continue.
3. Choose some of your child’s favorites
Next, you can choose some favorites for your child. This is an optional task, so feel free to hit the “Skip” option instead of making selections and saving.
4. Save learning preferences
Next, you can choose what you would like Noggin to help your child get ready for. There are several learning preferences to choose from, although you can just choose them all.
Learning preferences include:
- Social & Emotional – building relationships
- Literacy – sounds, letters & words. Reading and writing.
- Math – numbers & counting, shapes & patterns
- Health & Wellness – movement & mindfulness, healthy habits
- Knowledge – arts & history, the sciences
Again, you could skip this and fill it out later in the parent dashboard if you prefer.
5. Add your payment details
To begin your free trial, you’ll need to add your payment details. Noggin wouldn’t charge you until your free trial expires but needs the info so they could process your auto-renew payment.
They explain in fine print that you can cancel to avoid charges but you must do so at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
Both monthly and annual billing options are available. I didn’t see any PayPal option for persons who want to pay with PayPal. You’ll need to have a valid credit card to complete the payment form.
Your 30-day free trial of Noggin on Prime Video
Another great place to get a 30-day free trial of Noggin is on Amazon Prime Video.
Amazon Prime Video gives members access to free movies, TV shows and live channels as well as over 100 premium channels like Max, Boomerang & Paramount+. Noggin is also one of these channels and although most of the channels come with a 7-day free trial, you can get a 30-day free trial of Noggin here.
To start your free trial, you’ll need to have an active Prime membership or at least a Prime Video membership. Prime memberships have a 30-day free trial as well.
You can start both free trials (Prime + Noggin) together. Or if you’re already a Prime member, follow the steps below to start a Noggin free trial.
- Visit the Noggin channel page on Prime Video.
- Click on the “More details” button on the channel banner.
- On the next page, click on the “Start Your Free Trial” button.
- Confirm your payment details.
- After you have confirmed your details, click on the “Start your free trial” button to start watching.
Amazon doesn’t charge you when you start your free trial. This will happen when the trial period is over. You can cancel inside your Prime account at any time. You’ll still be able to watch for the remainder of your time.
Starting a Noggin Free Trial on The Roku Channel
Another great place to start a Noggin free trial is The Roku Channel. You do not need to own a Roku device to start a free trial.
In addition to the app, The Roku Channel can be accessed in your browser at it’s web address.
The good thing about getting Noggin via The Roku Channel is that you don’t have to worry about a second subscription. The only free trial you’ll have to start is Noggin because The Roku Channel is totally free. It may not be the most convenient method for your child though.
To start your free trial of Noggin on The Roku Channel, follow the steps below.
- Visit the Noggin page on The Roku Channel.
- Click on the “See plans” button.
- Check the details including your payment method (or add one).
- Confirm and click on the “Start free trial” button.
The 30-day Noggin free trial will start without any charges to your payment method and you’ll be billed after the trial expires. You can cancel at any time to avoid charges.
Noggin Price After the Free Trial
On all platforms, the price of Noggin is $7.99/month after the free trial. This is communicated upfront so there should be no surprise when you’re billed 30 days after you started your free trial.
From time to time, there may be promotions where you can get Noggin for much less but only for new customers who opt not to take the free trial.
The only way to subscribe to Noggin with annual billing is through the Noggin website or app. The price is discounted and is currently at 50% off or $47.88/year. This is a great option if you want to invest in your child’s development and plan to keep the subscription after the trial period.
What’s On Noggin?
So, what shows and content will your child be able to access on Noggin?
Noggin has a lot of great content that preschoolers would love. These include shows that air on Nick Jr. like Paw Patrol, Bubble Guppies, Peppa Pig, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Shimmer and Shine, Dora the Explorer, and many more.
Besides these favorites, Noggin also produce their own exclusive shows that feature some of the characters from the classic shows.
For example, characters from Paw Patrol, Zooli, and Bubble Guppies show up in Noggin Knows, to help teacher Emmanuel teach kids various themed lessons. Kids learn about science, animals, their bodies, and more through dance, songs and activities throughout the engaging show.
Other education exclusives include:
Noggin has over 1000 hours of streaming video with new content being added every week.
If you’re using the Noggin app or website, there is even more – books and games which you can download to keep your kids entertained when they’re offline.
Books include your kids’ favorite characters. There are Paw Patrol books, Blaze books, Dora books, Blues Clues, and so on.
The smart and fun games allow your child to learn through play. These also contain their favorite character. There are math games, coloring games, and reading games to keep kids engaged.
Should You Keep Noggin After the Free Trial?
The Noggin free trial allows you to try out this fun streaming service for your child. If your child loves Noggin, should you keep it after the 30-day free trial?
Here are 5 great reasons to keep Noggin.
1. Noggin is kid-safe and ad-free
No need to worry about what your kids are watching. Noggin is kid-safe and only contains their library of content. There are also no ads to interrupt your child’s experience.
Noggin is a great alternative to YouTube, YouTube Kids, and other free “kids apps”.
2. Noggin adds new content weekly
Even though the app has thousands of hours of content already, there’s always something new to watch, read or play. Noggin is always adding new content on a weekly basic.
New content includes new seasons of exclusive shows, book of the month, game of the month and other new content.
3. Noggin has downloadable books and games
If you’re accessing Noggin through Prime Video or The Roku Channel then you’ll only be able to access the streaming video aspect of Noggin.
The app provides the best experience and along with streaming shows, you can also download books and fun learning games for your kids to enjoy, especially when there’s no internet connection.
4. Noggin is accessible on multiple devices
Noggin has apps for iOS, Android, Roku and Amazon devices. It doesn’t matter which tablet your child has, you’ll be able to download Noggin for them or let them access it on a smart TV.
Furthermore, you can access Noggin from a browser via the Noggin website, so they can enjoy their shows on any device if they don’t have their tablet.
5. Noggin has 800+ episodes in Spanish
Noggin is available in many countries outside of the United States. Spanish-speaking kids can enjoy Noggin too as the service has 800+ episodes en español.
All the popular shows like Dora the Explorer, Paw Patrol, and Bubble Guppies have Spanish versions so kids can enjoy their favorite characters.
Noggin is a very good app for kids especially with the exclusive educational shows like Noggin Knows. And since it has popular shows they watch on other apps, it makes sense to keep Noggin after the free trial.
Go ahead and get a 30-day free trial whether it’s on the Noggin app for the full experience or stream shows through Prime Video.
