Starz is a subscription video-on-demand service available to viewers in the United States with or without a TV provider.
The streaming service was launched in 2016 to compete with HBO Now and Showtime‘s OTT subscription services.
The content available on Starz is the same as what is available on it’s linear cable multiplex channels, mostly made up off theatrically released films and blockbusters as well as original and syndicated television series.
Starz is widely available as all digital TV providers carry the streaming service and you can also access it through it’s standalone app for all platforms.
A 7-day free trial gets you started in most cases (YouTubeTV only offers 5 days). This will give you access to the streaming service and also to the live multiplex channels wherever they’re available.
Read below to see all the ways you can subscribe to the Starz OTT service via a free trial. You will be able to try as many as you wish back to back, extending the amount of free days you can have.
You’ll need to be in the United States, be older than 18 years and have a credit card to sign up. If you’re outside of the region, a VPN can unblock the geo-restrictions and get you access.
How To Get Your Starz Free Trial
There are many ways to get a Starz free trial. Previously, you could get a free trial directly from the Starz website but it is no longer available. Now you can only get free trials from a digital TV provider like Amazon Prime Video, YouTubeTV or Hulu or signing up through any of the apps for your favorite device.
You will get a standard 7-day free trial to the service. Starz is $9.99/month after the free trial expires.

Signing Up For Starz Free Trial
In this section, I’m going to outline several ways to sign up for a Starz free trial.
I’ll walk you through the process of signing up with some of the services above. Each service is different and may provide a free trial of their own.
You can do each trial back to back and get more than a month of free streaming to watch some original series and blockbuster movies on Starz.

Sign Up Directly on the Starz Website
Note: This method is no longer available and has been replaced by a special offer where you can get 3 months at $3 per month.
The best way to sign up for Starz is through their official website. There are a few benefits to going this route for your free trial.

Visit Starz.com and click on “Start Your Free Trial” to get started then follow the instructions below.
1. Enter your email address
You only need to input your email address in the first step of the signup process to get your Starz free trial.
By clicking on continue, you agree to the Starz Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
2. Enter your payment info
The next step is to enter your billing info. This is so that Starz can process your payment after your free trial expires. They wouldn’t charge you anything when you submit the form.
The subscription has two options – either a monthly fee of $9.99 or you can save 11% by choosing to pay $23.99 every three months. There is no yearly option.
For payment methods, Starz offer credit card or PayPal options.
3. Set your password and login
To login, you’ll need to set your password. Your login credentials will work on the website so you can stream in your browser or with the apps for your favorite devices.
Add Starz On Your Hulu Account
Hulu offers a few premium addons, one of which is Starz. You can get started with a Hulu free trial of 30 days.
The Starz free trial on Hulu is also 7 days before you’re billed the monthly fee of $9.99. To avoid getting billed, you’ll need to cancel your trial at least 24 hours before it expires.
You’ll be able to stream Starz content directly on Hulu through the website or the Hulu app on your favorite device.
If you already have Hulu, simply browse to your account, find the addons section and start your Starz free trial.
Here’s how:
- In the top right hand corner of the site, click on your name.
- Click on “Account”
- You’ll need to enter your password to verify access
- Click on “Manage Addons”
- Find Starz and click the + button to add it to your subscription
You’ll be taken to a confirmation page where you’ll see details of your free trial and cost after your trial expires.
Confirm that you want to add Starz and then you can start streaming their content.
Add Starz on Amazon Prime Video Channels
Another great place to get a Starz free trial is through Amazon Prime Video.
If you’re a Prime member then you already have access to Prime Video. I’m you’re not a Prime member then you have the option of becoming a Prime member or just subscribing to Prime Video. Both memberships start with a free 30-day trial.
Prime Video gives you access to thousands of movies and TV shows free with a membership and also lets you add premium channels all starting with a free 7-day trial.
Starz is one of these premium channels along with Max, Cinemax, Paramount Plus and many more – over 100 to choose from.
Once you’re a Prime Video subscriber (or you’re doing the free trial), just log in and follow the instructions below to get started with Starz.
- Go to the Starz channel page in Prime Video
- Click on the “More details” button on the channel banner to get started
- Click on “Start your 7-day free trial”.
- Confirm your details on the next page.
- Click on the “Start Watching” button to start watching Starz.
You wouldn’t get charged until after the free trial expires and you can cancel at any time to avoid being charged.
Starz provides a live feed of their channel and you can also watch all the on demand content on Prime Video in your browser or on their app.
Get Starz Free Trial On FuboTV
FuboTV is a great option for a digital TV provider if you love sports. They also have a lot of great entertainment channels too and a small selection of premium addons which include Starz.
You can add Starz on FuboTV when signing up or later from the settings. FuboTV also offers a free trial of 7 days so if you’re getting Starz, it would be best to do so at signup as both trials would expire at the same time.
Here’s how to get your Starz free trial on FuboTV once you’re signed up.
1. Go to your account settings page
Click on “Manage Add-ons” to access the available premium addons.
2. Add Starz
Click on the +Add button next to Starz to add the Starz premium channel to FuboTV. You’ll be able to start your free 7-day trial without paying and enjoy Starz until cancelled.
Get Starz Free Trial on YouTubeTV
YouTubeTV is another digital TV provider like FuboTV but offers more premium addons and a longer free trial of 14 days.
The downside to adding Starz on YouTubeTV is that you’ll only get a 5-day free trial of the service before being charged $9.99/month.
You can cancel at anytime and continue watching until the trial expires.
To get Starz on YouTubeTV, you can add it during the signup process or add it from your settings page after you’re set up.
To access settings, you can just click on your name in the top right hand corner and then choose Membership to manage your YouTubeTV trial and addons.
Scroll down the list of addons to get your Starz free trial. This page is where you’ll also be able to come back and cancel the free trial if you need to.
Add Starz Free Trial on The Roku Channel
The Roku Channel is a great place to get free movies,shows and live content on the Roku platform. You can also access the service in your browser.
What makes the Roku Channel even more useful is the fact that you can add lots of premium channels like MGM+, Starz and Cinemax.
To add Starz with a 7-day free trial, just go to The Roku Channel here in your browser and look through the panels until you find “Browser Premium Subscriptions”. You should see Starz among the list of channels.

Here’s how to add it.
- Open the channel from the list by clicking on the thumbnail.
- On the channel page, click on the “Start Your 7 day free trial” button
- You’ll be asked to confirm your free trial with the payment method you have on file.
If there is no payment method on file, then you’ll need to add on to Roku. You will not be charged until after the trial period ends.
Alternatively, you can also add the Roku Channel app on your Roku device or TV, then check out the premium channels offered.
What to Watch on Starz
Starz has a nice mix of old movies and newer ones including recent franchise entry Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, syndicated television series as well as popular original shows like Power and it’s spinoffs.
