MovieSphere is a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service available to viewers in the United States.
The service, initially created in 2015, was formerly known as Tribeca Shortlist. It was a joint venture between Lionsgate and Tribeca Enterprises which offered a curated collection of about 150 movies for viewers to watch.
MovieSphere does not have an official website and can only be found on several streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video channels and YouTubeTV.
The content provided by MovieSphere is made up of popular movies, cult classics, documentaries, and more. There are no exclusives which mean that these movies may be available on other streamers as well.
A 7-day free trial is available to anyone who wants to try out MovieSphere before subscribing. In this article, I’ll show you where to get a MovieSphere free trial and how to sign up.
How To Get a MovieSphere Free Trial
There are several ways to get a free trial of MovieSphere. All of them are for 7 days and each platform offers a different experience with pros and cons.
Here are the main ways to get a MovieSphere free trial.
- Amazon Prime Video Channels – You’ll need a separate Prime video subscription but you can free trial 100 other channels and access free movies and TV with your subscription.
- YouTubeTV – You’ll need to have a YouTubeTV base plan. You can free trial dozens of other premium channels and get live TV.
- Other – MovieSphere may be available for free trial on other streaming platforms. I’ll add them here as I find them.
Below, you’ll find some details on how to subscribe to MovieSphere with a free trial on the above-mentioned platforms.
Free Trial MovieSphere on Amazon Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video is Amazon’s movie and TV streaming platform available to Prime members.
With a Prime Video membership, you can watch hundreds of free movies and television shows as well as live TV. You can also subscribe to over 100 premium channels such as Max, MGM+, and ScreenPix, all available with a 7-day free trial.
MovieSphere is one of the channels you can free trial on Prime Video channels and it comes with a 7-day free trial to start.
To get started with a MovieSphere free trial, you’ll need to be logged into your Prime account if you have one and then follow the steps below. If you don’t have Prime Video, you can get started with a 30-day free trial.
Follow the instructions below to start your MovieSphere free trial whether you have a Prime Video account or not.
- Visit the MovieSphere channel page on Prime Video.
- Click on the “More details” button on the channel banner.
- Click on the “Start your free trial” button on the next page.
- Confirm your payment details.
- After you have confirmed your details, click on the “Start your free trial” button to start watching.
Amazon will not charge you until after your free trial has ended. You can cancel at any time and continue to watch until any remaining time left on your trial expires.
Free Trial MovieSphere on YouTubeTV
If you want to cut cable, one of your options where you can get live TV, movies and other on-demand entertainment is YouTubeTV.
YouTubeTV also gives you access to premium channels with a free trial. The streaming TV service itself also offers a free trial of 14 days and costs $64.99 to subscribe.
MovieSphere is an available premium channel on YouTubeTV and a free trial of 7 days is offered.
The great thing about YouTubeTV is that you can subscribe to some channels without having to pay the base price. For now, MovieSphere appears to be one such channel. You can check its availability by taking a free trial of YouTubeTV, then checking the membership settings under your profile. Any channel that doesn’t require a base plan to subscribe will be marked as such.
MovieSphere Price After Free Trial
The price of a MovieSphere subscription after your free trial is $4.99/month.
MovieSphere does not have an official website where annual subscriptions are normally available so you cannot subscribe to the streaming service for more than a month at a time.
If you’re using Prime Video or YouTubeTV, the cost of MovieSphere is in addition to the platform’s cost.
When you start your free trial of MovieSphere, you’re made aware of upcoming charges so the $4.99/month charge should come as no surprise after you’ve finished your free trial.
What’s on MovieSphere?
There are no TV shows here. As the name suggests, MovieSphere is all about movies. Cult movies, movies from Lionsgate, documentaries, and many more are available on the service.
Tribeca Shortlist was once a curated collection of the best films but that somehow didn’t work out. MovieSphere doesn’t appear curated and the quality ranges from direct-video material to Oscar-winning movies.
Here are some of the titles available on MovieSphere so you can get an idea of what’s available.
You’ll be able to see a full list of all the movies available on any platform before you start your free trial.
Should You Get MovieSphere?
As a movie lover, you may be asking whether or not MovieSphere is worth getting after the free trial. I took a look around and formed my own opinion quickly.
MovieSphere does not offer anything unique, exclusive, or special. The movies offered can be found elsewhere. Unless maybe there’s a movie on your watchlist that might be otherwise inaccessible to you, there is no real appeal to keep your subscription to MovieSphere at a cost of $4.99/month.
You may want to try it out yourself with a free trial and maybe watch a couple of old favorites but there are other streaming channels that have more exclusive content for the price of $4.99/month or less.
Then again, it all depends on what you’d like to see. I recommend getting your MovieSphere free trial on Amazon because you more than likely already use Prime Video and there’s so much more there to watch besides MovieSphere.
